The New River Valley Master Gardeners are Now Accepting Applications for the 2026 NRV Master Gardener Training Program

Are you looking for a way to improve your community through volunteer service?  Are you interested in horticulture?  If your answers are “YES”, then being a Master Gardener may be right for you!

  • Applicants must be able to attend a 60-hour training program and complete 50 hours of volunteer service with Virginia Cooperative Extension during their first year.
  • Training classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at the Montgomery Co. Govt. Center and on the Virginia Tech campus and from February 10th through May 5th. Additionally, there will be limited on-line learning.
  • There is a $165.00 fee to cover class materials and a background check. Scholarship money is available to those who qualify.
